"SPES" Tjalk built in Holland at the Groningen shipyard
According to our information SPES was built at the Groningen site in riveted steel in 1897. It was freezing, had no engine. It was a freight transport boat. It was converted for pleasure in the early 1970s. We carved it in 2011 to its purchase with expertise, then in 2016 with some work, and finally in 2024 for expertise. you will find the details of the trip since Coevorden in Holland to Arles in France on the page : NEWS
Although it is engraved "1930 Groningen" at the back of the boat. and always according to our info that we received from the former owner, it would be the registration number of the notary of the boat.

Coevorden - Thieu
September 2011 we leave Coevorden for Thieu in Belgium. We have used an experienced sailor because we do not yet have the river license. We will take 8 days to make this trip by the canals, the Rhine, the Meuse. We will take the great elevator of Thieu (74 m) to join the small elevator (16 m) of the old branch of the Center of the Center in Thieu
Thieu - Cruas
Moored in Thieu, on the canal of the old branch center for more than 10 months, we each have our license in our pockets, thank you to the SNEF, we are impatient to hit the road or rather the water thread. Our project is to descend to the south of France, more than 1200 km of canals and rivers for a journey that we estimate at 2 months.
Cruas - Arles
On September 2, 2012 we left Cruas to join Arles. Our friends Michel and Reine accompanies us. A day to join Avignon with the passage of the highest lock in Europe "Bolène" (20 m of Délivelé) then a second journey to reach our location on the Arles channel in Bouc en Arles.
